  1. I hate to be that guy but I hear this so often it bothers me. JRY said in the episode that the reason Android exsits is because of Apple launching the iPhone in 2007. Google bought Android in 2005 to build a moat for their users from the threat of Microsoft. Google was always a web services company and they knew that they had to protect themselves from Microsoft dominating mobile the same way they did PCs. Now JRY is correct if he is pointing to the fact that Android pivoted when they saw what Apple had developed with the iPhone but we really need to be careful of the narratives around these platforms and basically history.
